I'm not obsessed with the Moon, really I'm not

I just find it hard to believe some of the crap going around lately about it. Along with my long held belief that they cant prove we have ever been there. Honestly, this article in Computer World has Google making it sound as if roving around on the Moon and sending back pictures is a huge accomplishment. If Google can't after turning over every stone find evidence we have been there, they must want to turn over Moon stones too. If we landed people on the moon back in the 70's. We can certainly land a rover and take pictures can't we? I mean heck its a Moon. Not some distant sister planet or anything. Why doesn't NASA take that Rocket(that made it to the Moon)out of the Smithsonian, fly it to the Moon, have some Astronaut take a couple of pictures, pick up some moon sand, and come home. Put the Rocket back into the Smithsonian. NASA certainly could use that prize money. They could put on the side of the Rocket, "NOT NASA". That way they could qualify for the Prize. They could also prove once and for all they really did go to the Moon, and in the Apollo Rockets.

Billy Bob!

I made it to the Show. He had a pretty rough interview with the Jackasses from the local paper. He may not of at that time felt good about doing a show here, but he never showed it on stage. He was a class act all the way. The people who made it to the show, seemed to absolutely enjoy the show. I was talking to people and no one seemed to know a single Billy Bob song. By the time the show started and by the end of the first song, he owned that crowd. He played to the crowd, and they gave him all the love back. Actually the numbers may not of been what he expected, but the people who were there, Loved the show. The Band was tight. Those Musicians appeared to have been together for some time. Very well done on their behalf too. It was funny, Billy Bob was his own opening act. That was hilarious. The people were very respectful, I didn't hear one flippant comment the whole night. I know in the interview they eluded to the fact he may of expected to get some. It was all love and I hope he comes back again.
I just hope the small turnout, show on a Monday Night, school had just started, the State Fair was here all weekend, doesn't discourage him from roaming back this way. I would definitely go see him again.
I am also going to write to the Local Piece of Shit rag, and tell them, If you Assholes want to talk to someone who did nothing to you but perform his ass off to entertain you, someone who didn't start up any shit with you, that agreed to take time out of his life to humor your sub par, uninformative, biased, piece of shit. Let it be a guest piece. Let someone who appreciates what others do for them do the interview and submit it to your paper. I didn't appreciate the fact they pissed him off from the first question. GOD!! Idaho has some real assholes.

Errrrrrr What?

What do you say? I mean really.

This is Classic

The response of these people is classic!

Hey I found this

After I made the blog about a Landing on the Moon. It inspired talk amongst some of my friends and I. Well I decided to Google "Why we have not been back to the Moon."

I found this interesting Comments from the Japanese Scientist heading up the SELENE Mission that was supposed to launch in 2005. Apparently, after aaaaaall these years, NASA is going to go back to the moon on a future manned mission.
Another thing, allegedly all these telescopes that can see all the way to the edge of No-where, cannot get a clear shot of a Moon Rover, A Landing Site, or one of the Special NASA American Flag stuck on the Moon, that was left behind after any one of our 6 manned missions. This program of the Selene Explorer they think should be able to tell us many things. Should be interesting to see what they can tell the world after this "Scientific" Mission. Apparently Nasa used to be a Political affiliate of our Government and not a Scientific one according to some Moon Landing Theorists

Just so you dont have to go to the website, I placed the article here.

The launch of KAGUYA (SELENE, SELenological and ENgineering Explorer), which opens up a new age of lunar exploration in the 21st century, is coming soon. Preparations are underway at the Tanegashima Space Center.

Many lunar explorers, such as the Apollo program, were launched to the moon in the 1960s and 1970s. These explorers collected a large amount of data regarding the moon and led to new discoveries - such as the geological differences between the near and far sides of the moon. However, lunar exploration in those days was undertaken in the context of a race to land a man on the moon's surface and the data gathered were not intended or sufficient in support of serious research into the origin and evolution of the moon.

KAGUYA will globally gather data on chemical element distribution, mineral distribution, topographical/surface structures, gravity field and the environment of the moon, all with higher resolutions than past lunar missions - by 14 sophisticated scientific missions. All of the data gathered by KAGUYA will bring us new scientific knowledge for research of the origin and evolution of the moon. The lunar missions of China and India are scheduled to be launched in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Both missions also aim to collect data for the research to the origin and evolution of the moon as well.

Meanwhile, NASA is planning to deploy a manned lunar mission in the near future. As part of its preliminary research, NASA is going to launch a lunar orbiter in 2008 - to obtain data (we have been there 6 times! Remember?) for the planning of the manned exploration. NASA will also utilize data from KAGUYA for preparatory study of the manned lunar missions. Thus, KAGUYA will also contribute to the manned exploration of the moon.
In addition, KAGUYA carries a high-definition television camera and will take a movie of the beautiful Earth rising from the Moon's horizon for broadcasting on Earth.

Hey. You know somethin?

My summer of multiple visitors

I just thought about making posts of these, I will have to ask them as well. If they look at these posts first lemme know if I can post about our visits. I would love to.

My Norwegian Visitor

OK I got the permission I needed to post. I and some other had planned to meet over here in the U.S and celebrate an event. Well dates got tossed around, peeps got tossed around and it was slowly coming apart this event. A few things happened or maybe a few other things didn't happen, but my Norwegian friend Linn stuck to her plans and made it! She never wavered from the planned date of the end of July thru the first weekend of August. Following is a play by play of how Linn came and stayed with my family.

For the whole month of July my kids kept counting down the days until Linn was coming to stay at our house. Well during the week leading up to her arrival, I had taken time off and was finishing up projects that had been put off for about a year. The kids getting things ready, asking me how many more days, how long will she stay, does she speak English. You know the general questions kids ask.

Well the day came our Norwegian friend was due to arrive and my youngest Ava wanted to head to the Airport with me. She was talking the whole way to the Airport and as we sat patiently waiting for Linn to arrive, Ava asks me, "Have you ever seen Linn?" I told her I have seen pictures of her and I didn't think I would have any problem seeing Linn if she was to come walking out of the gate. She had seen pictures too of Linn, but was filling up nervous time with chatter. Well here comes Linn and of course we have no problem recognizing her. Ava greets her bashfully right along with me. Well its late, somewhere around 11:00 PM and we have a 28 mile drive from the Airport to get home. We arrive and Diana and Tess are waiting for us when we arrive. Actually I think they were in bed but got up when we got home. We showed Linn where she would be staying(the Master Suite) and showed her what we thought she would need to know and got her situated. We talked a bit and got to know each other a bit, then went to bed.

We started out the next day kind of laid back. We waited for Linn to get out of bed and get around before having breakfast. We didn't do a whole lot that day except hang around the house and goof off mostly. We had stuff planned to do but didn't want to hit the ground running since we have never traveled that far, we didn't know how the time change, the long flights, the time spent in airports, all that would affect someone. Well she came through all of that just fine. I cannot remember what order or what days the events that took place happened on so I will just tell you what we did while she was here.

The next night after her arrival the Kids still had fireworks left from the 4th of July, so we lit those off on the back Patio. We went shopping more than once. Not like power shopping, but places Linn wanted to go. The Kids kind of took over Linn's exercise regimen. They had her jumping on the trampoline almost daily. Water fights were also on the agenda. There were some firsts for Linn while she was here too.

We went to the Horse Races and Linn Bet on a horse that paid out big for her.

Obviously not enough to skip College and go straight to retirement, but a pretty good amount for a first time wager. It was ironic that the Horses name was Bruneau as that was another place we took Linn. Bruneau Dunes was on the agenda where we took Linn so she could see the tallest Sand Dune in North America. Hopefully she had a good time there. It was Hot! We climbed the Dunes,

the kids played in the water,

We took her to a good old fashioned drive in Movie. That's so American. We were at the mercy of their schedule obviously. We saw Cars which none of us had seen. We now own the DVD and the kids mention Linn every time they watch it.

We Barbecued several times while she was with us and one night I started a fire and we had S'mores. That too is so American. We took her to my favorite Coffee Bar and we had an awesome time. Actually the Flying M Coffee House had just expanded and opened up a 2nd shop closer to home so we visited both locations many times.

We Flew Rockets. That's something I take my kids to do and they enjoy it. Linn wanted to see it, well at least she said she did. So we went and flew Rockets.

We lost 2 Rockets that day. One crashed and destroyed itself, and another one went into a Farmers Bean field and we never could locate it.

My daughters have this Chinese restaurant they love to go to. They had to take Linn and let her have the experience. Hopefully she liked the Buffet Bar Chinese style.
We have since moved and are no longer close to that place any more. We will probably drive over there and enjoy the place anyway.

We spent some time in Boise(Idahos Capital City) and walked down a Historic Blvd and looked at some old houses. Some of the oldest houses in Boise. Went to the Flying M Boise this time and enjoyed the atmosphere of the original location. We went to the Outlet Mall where it isn't really any big deal after you figure out its just another Mall of over priced crap, but we looked around and still ended up buying a few things. While we were there we had lunch.

At the end of her 10 day stay, We went to Hailey for the Music Festival.

My Wife and I have been going up there for a few years during the festival and enjoy it. We got into Hailey and checked into the Hotel. A cheap but clean place. Its not much to look at, but really who is in their room any way? We went to the festival and enjoyed the first night.

The music wasn't too bad. We had brought some beer with us and had a few of those, ate some food we had brought, and watched people, watched music, and watched security(that's always entertaining). There is always something entertaining even if its not on the stage. After the Festival ended we went to The Mint bar and had a couple of Drinks there before heading back to the Hotel and off to bed. While we were at the Mint, my Mother in Law who went with us to Hailey, got hit on. this guy used a classic line Ive never heard. He said," Hey do you want to dance? Or anything?" what is she had said, "Sure, lets go bowling!"
The next day we got up and ate Breakfast at Shorty's Diner in Hailey.

Its not bad, but its one of the only places to eat breakfast in Hailey. After breakfast we went to Ketchum(which is in the middle of a huge forest fire right now and parts have been evacuated) and did some shopping and walking around. Linn even got a call from her Dad up in Ketchum.

Ketchum is a great town for looking around and shopping. After a Day of shopping there we went back to Hailey to get ready for Day 2 of the Festival.
We got there a little later since we went shopping for some food to eat at the Festival. We had some stuff left from the day before, but we got more at the local Grocery store we all thought was awesome. They have a play structure at the Park where the Festival is held, that has everything a kid could want to play on. Its huge. After the Festival, we went back to the Mint again, this time my wife went with us and shot some pool, had some Beers, and went back to the Hotel.
The next morning we got up and got everything packed up. We spent one last hour or two milling around Hailey before heading to the store and getting something for everyone to eat because we had to get Linn to the Airport. We took her into the Airport and I had Tess with me this time. We said goodbye to Linn and watched her wind through the Security ropes and head to her plane.

We hated to see out guest leave.

Billy Bob Thornton Sings too!

I have enjoyed immensly listening to Billy Bob. I bought a CD called Private Radio when it came out back in 2001 and loved it. He is a little different for most folks, which means I like his music a lot. I will see him perform next month hopefuly. I will let you know how that goes.

.

This is worth a look

I could listen to Sting any day, all day. Guy has Major Talent. I had to own the Police when it came out and anyone who knows me, knows I shy away from Commercial Musicians. Well for the most part, at least their music once they become commercial. The Police had a song called Walking on the Moon. It was one of my favorites. Well, it seems this guy Cas Haley. He decides to do his version of this song on Americas got Talent. He absolutely nails this song. I also love how he has Reggaed it even further than the Police of the earlier days. I even love the response of the Judges. Pure Classic video.

Here it is.

Dollar Store conspiracy

Where on Earth did Dollar Stores appear from? I think the Government uses them as Commodity Distribution Centers. They dont have that Government Cheese any more do they? Like when you could go get Generic Food(at least thats what it looked like with the White and Brown Packages with black lettering) from a distribution point designated by someone as "The Place". You used to be able to get Cheese, Peanut Butter, Honey, Rice, Instant stuff like Milk and Potatoes, Maccaroni. All kinds of stuff. They may still do that but I havent seen or heard of it in a long time. They still need a way to get things into the hands of the poorer Americans so what better way than to build Dollar Stores? You can get about anything you need to wash your ass, scrub your teeth, cure a cold, and bake a Cake. A person could get tired trying to look at everything availible in a dollar store. But if you think about it, they have everything else you cant get with Food Stamps. And it you have an allowance for Aluminum foil and Deoderant, why not get it for a Dollar? Need a gift for a Birthday? Thats a dollar! Need Batteries for that gift? Thats a dollar! Need to wrap that Gift? Thats a Dollar too!
Lets say you are the one throwing that Party.
Cake Mix, Frosting, Candles and a Pan to Bake it in: 4 Dollars
2 Kinds of Party Favors for 8: 2 Dollars
Party Napkins cups plates for 8: 6 dollars tops
2 Bottles of Juice: 2 dollars
Decorations, Table cloth: 2 Dollars

See for 20 Dollars, you have done it up right

I dont know why I find it so funny to go by a Walmart and see a Dollar store right there by it. Who in their right mind would build a dollar store right in the parking lot of the worlds largest dollar store? Talk about a Business plan to fail. Some of the things you find in a Dollar Store too. You used to have to spend 20 dollars on an Arcade game when the fair came to town to win this crap. Now you dont need to play the dozers for an hour and 30 bucks to win a pair of fingernail clippers. Just go to the Dollar store. Those Carnies must just be chapped. Hell that just might be the answer. Those Carnies got a line on the Carnival Suppliers and have now opened up Dollar Stores across the U.S. Ive never seen anyone who owns one of these Dollar Stores. That could be the answer to the whole mystery.

Ramen Noodles a total mystery how they do it

I find Ramen Noodles an intriguing item. Even from the inception. Its a Japanese dish, made in China for consumption by Americans, who are often on a serious or tight budget. Where else could you spend .10 cents and get your total caloric, and double your sodium allowance for 1 day in 1 meal? I bet more College students eat Ramen Noodles than anyone else in the world. I find it also amazing that its been around since at least the 17th century. That's a long Damn time!

Here is Wikipedias explanation of Ramen in the US.
In North America, Japanese noodles were imported starting in the 1970s bearing the name "ramen" and today it most commonly refers to instant noodles. It gained popularity as a Japanese dish of noodle soup which sold so well in the United States in the late 1970s that imports from Japan were supplanted by American manufacturers by the mid-1980s as a popular food item for tight income buyers. Today, due to its very low cost, ramen has become characterized in the United States as a very cheap food eaten by people such as students or teenagers. A packet of instant ramen in a U.S. supermarket often costs as little as 10 cents. Some generic brands often cost as little as 8 cents per packet, or are sold in bulk. In America, Ramen is becoming increasingly popular, especially in respect to teenagers.

That gets to another thing that amazes me. They can cost from 8 to 10 cents? That is Scary in and of itself. Think about that for a minute. The Noodles which have to be made in huge quantities to satisfy the demand. How much production space is that? How much is the cost of the Facilities? And I would think a process like that takes plenty of room. Add on top of that, the cost of the ingredients to make them. You add on the Labor cost and you have almost used up 10 cents I would think. You haven't even gotten to the cost of Packaging, the Sauce Packet that goes inside of it, or the cost to move that stuff to your local Grocery Store. Then your local Grocery Store needs to make a profit on the thing just for taking shelf space and their overhead involved with handling it.

Check this out, this thing made me laugh. I wonder why our Universities don't have at least one of these in every dormitory.

DID we get to the Moon?

Will I?
As Carl Spackler once said quoting the Dali Llama,
"When you die, on your Deathbed, you will receive total consciousness. So I got that going for me, which is nice"

I just want the answer to, "Did we make it to the Moon?" I don’t think we did, and it’s not any type of conspiracy theory crap others subscribe to. I will tell you the reasons for my questioning it in the first place.

1. We cannot get out of the Atmosphere with the current Billions of dollars spent on the new Space Vehicle Technology. We were able to accomplish this back in the late 60s and early 70s with technology from the 1950s. I am taking a stab at the fact that not a lot has changed with the time frame of using current technology. We develop something, test the crap out of it (about 10 years), and then deploy it. From what I’ve always understood, we don’t abandon Technology that works, we expand on it.

2. Why haven’t we been back, if we were able to get there 18 times back then? 6 of those Landings were manned missions (allegedly). If we were able to explore, perform tests, bring back samples and the like, then why not go back for more? We certainly could not have gotten everything we would like to have discovered done in 6 manned missions. We know whats in the Antarctic too, but we have a research station that we continue to send scientists to, and they continue performing research studies.

3. We cannot get a Wireless company to carry a phone call across town that does not break up or drop off totally. You expect us to believe they had the Technology to transmit not only voice (real time) back and forth, but Video too? This was in the 60s, why have we not improved on this?

4. Why would we spend trillions on the International Space Station, Not just the U.S. but like 5 other countries as well, that sits in the middle of space or in Low Earths Orbit? Would’t it make more sense to build that Station on the Moon? Where it could work as a Staging station to get to further planets? Say Mars? Maybe it’s out of the way. But a Space Station in the Middle of Space, where couldn't a piece of debris or a meteor the size of a dime turn that thing into a billion pieces of Space junk? Could it possibly eliminate any future space travel in that area safely? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

5. Don’t you think we would have pictures of crap we left behind on the Moon taken by Telescopes here on Earth? I’ve never seen any, haven’t heard of anyone looking at the Moon and saying, Hey look! there is the Land Rover the Astronauts left behind. Looks like it has a flat. And that Flag looks pretty tattered they left flying there after they hit a golf Ball into Space. Which brings up another question, if they had to eat Tang from a Ketchup Packet to save space, who the hell let him on that Rocket with a Golf Club?

These are just some of the reasons I don’t believe we ever made it to the Moon. I guess there are many people who do believe it. But hey that’s their prerogative and no I don’t laugh at them for believing so. It’s all good.

Boise State Broncos

While I can talk about Football, I may as well brag about our Boise State Broncos. They were beat upon all season long by people who said they are a weak team, playing in a weak conference. All the while compiling a 12-0 regular season record. Beating everyone in their path. Well the BCS had to place them into a Bowl game since they were one of two undefeated teams in the Nation. They drew a spot in the Fiesta Bowl. Well it came down to a game where Oklahoma, a very prideful team, won the opportunity to play BSU. They were less than thrilled that they were not playing a regular contending Big Conference team, but instead said, " Now we get to play the Booby Prize."
Well come game day and all the critics were busting on the BCS even allowing BSU to play a powerhouse like Oklahoma. Telling everyone BSU may be able to keep it from becoming a blow out. BSU may keep it from being embarrassing.
When the Game kicked off, within 5 minutes BSU was up 14 to nothing after shutting them down. Even after giving them the Ball first. Then taking a Kick off away from them deep in their Territory and scoring off of it too. So much for BSU rolling over to the farrrr superior Oklahoma.
I will give Oklahoma credit for wearing BSU down in the second half and actually executing a game plan. In the last minute and a half of the game, Oklahoma scored and got 2 extra points to tie the game. BSU got the Ball back. Started the drive when the BSU Quarterback throws an interception first play, returned for a touchdown and Oklahoma is up by a touchdown. Everyone marches off the field and as wierd as it sounds, the only person who appears upset at that point is The Quarterback who just threw that interception. The rest of the Team is like OK, lets get this done. BSU gets the Ball again. Marches down the field and is facing a 4th down and 18. They pull off a Hook and Ladder play that scores a touchdown and get the extra point and the game is tied up again. They played for Overtime.
Oklahoma gets the Ball first and score a 25 yard Touchdown on the first play. Its BSUs turn with the ball. They take five plays before they have a 4th and 8. They run a halfback option play that sends not the Quaterback out, but the halfback out to throw the pass to the wide reciever. It Works! They score! BSU Coach Chris Peterson decides his defense is drained. They may not be able to stop Oklahoma again. They just scored with ease in one play last time they had the ball. He cant give it back to them. So he lines up for the two point conversion. They snap the ball and the Quarterback motions a fake pass right while the running back is taking the ball from his other hand and running the other way. The Statue of Liberty play! Are you kidding me? The third of 3 "trick plays" in less than 2 minutes? Against a Team that was supposed to mop the field with our team. And they beat them? Oh yeah! They beat em.

Go Broncos!
