I dont apologize for this post

I was watching the News this morning when something I have heard before, more than once sadly and I never believed it. I don't know why, I don't know how I could have believed otherwise. Maybe its just that with all the coming issues this country has to deal with, the fact we have so many homeless and more everyday. People with no food and our Food banks drying up. I don't know why I never thought it through.

According to the news story, 1/3 of the US Homeless population are Veterans. Veterans! People who have made the ultimate contribution, often giving more than is expected of them to our country and its citizens! People who God forbid could of never returned home to family and loved ones but did their duty anyway. Put their lives on the line so we can enjoy the freedoms we so take for granted. I'm sorry but to me, that should earn them the right to be taken care of no matter the situation they find themselves in.

I don't know what the Lawmakers are thinking(I guess they are not). The Service men and women should be first and foremost taken care of, period! No questions asked, ever! When Lawmakers pass Bills to bail out Companies for Billions of dollars at a time no questions asked, not even a payback schedule, nothing. To Companies that even if they used good practices to run their Companies, they would be stockpiling money instead of paying CEO's 10 or 20 Million times(slight exaggeration) the average salary to run the Companies into the ground, then sending him away with even more of their money. The Lawmakers close Military Bases that are chock full of Barracks if I am not mistaken. Why not turn them into Apartments? Why not make Civil Jobs for these men and women falling on hard times? I would much rather pay them my tax dollars and get something for it than Mothball a Multi Billion Dollar Military Base, or sell it to a mismanaged Corporation to profit on it and overpay another CEO.

You may not agree with the Presidents deployment of the Troops for one reason or another, but these Men and Women do not choose their mission. They serve the Country no matter what is asked because they believe in the Rights and Freedoms we enjoy. They go where they are told, and follow their orders, no questions asked. They often leave spouses and children who they God Forbid, may never see again. Leave families in our hands to take care of them. Sadly too for some, welfare is how the families survive. We don't even pay enough for that Soldier to support his family while his life is on the line for our benefit. Then they return home where they have to wait in line for medical care, if they can get it. They have to deal with medical issues, mental issues for some. Ive seen where Medical care for Soldiers let alone Veterans has been substandard too. Then some how, some way, a growing number of them end up on the streets, asking for money, food, jobs, just a warm place to sleep. I'm sorry but that is unacceptable.

I may not of been able to word this as eloquently as others could have, but suffice to say, I think the Government has dropped the ball over and over again on this and its time we put a stop to this.

1/3 of Homeless are Veterans, That is unacceptable.
